Sound Analysis

Measure the acoustic power level of an object

This system uses an SA-02 and dedicated software to realize acoustic power level measurements either with the semi-anechoic or the reverberant method.
Even if the generated noise energy is the same, machinery, electrical products, office equipment and similar will produce different ambient sound levels, due to a number of factors.

When installing or removing equipment, measurement of acoustic power levels, i.e. acoustic energy produced per time unit, is necessary for predicting noise levels. The same applies when evaluating equipment on its own, with regard to its behavior as a sound source.
To measure the acoustic power level of a sound source, a measurement system consisting of measurement microphones and preamplifiers, a multi-channel signal analyzer SA-02 series unit, and acoustic power level measurement software is used.

Perform tracking analysis of engine sound

When analyzing vibration and noise phenomena, examining the rotational frequency or order can be useful in determining conditions related to the natural frequency of structural parts and components.

This system uses the multi-channel signal analyzer SA-02 series unit to handle rotation data (from the TACHO input) and sound/vibration data recorded simultaneously. This allows offline analysis of the rotation order ratio of the object.

Available display formats include contour mapping, Campbell diagram, waterfall plot, rpm-level display and more.

The recorded sound and vibration waveform data can be converted into WAVE files and be reproduced as actual sound.

Contour diagram of sound pressure distribution

This system measures the acoustic intensity which represents the energy of sound flowing in one direction. It allows locating a noise source and turning it into a visible image without using special equipment such as an anechoic chamber.

The acoustic intensity measurement is performed by connecting the acoustic intensity probe SI-31I to the multi-channel signal analyser SA-02 series unit, and using the acoustic intensity measurement software AS-15PA5.

The AS-15PA5 software allows generating a mesh diagram which represents the sound of the object in visual form. A vector diagram can also be used to visualize the sound flow direction.

Using the tri-axial simultaneous measurement intensity Probe SI-33I, the acoustic intensity of sound arriving from three directions can be measured in a single operation.
