Leak Detection by Acoustic Monitoring of Thermal Power Plant Boilers
PHONAFUITE
In a thermal power plant, when a leak occurs on a vaporisation screen tube, superheater, reheater or in the economiser, there is a risk to neighbouring tubes by the leak jet or of flattening by impacts in case of tube bursting. It is therefore important to detect a leak as soon as it occurs in order to avoid the damage spreading to other tubes.
PHONAFUITE is designed to detect a leak as soon as it occurs, continuously track the degradation trend and perform optimum servicing in line with production requirements.
Detection Technique
The flow of a pressurized fluid through a hole or crack produces a loud sound emission. The noise of a leak transmitted through the gases of the combustion chamber can be detected by a microphone. This signal is amplified and detected and sent to display rack for alarm detection.
